CAIM currently facilitates training on sexual violence, domestic violence and vicarious trauma. We fundraise for these outreaches so we can offer free training to organisations that work with refugees and asylum seekers.
We aim to leave staff and volunteers feeling confident supporting survivors of sexual and domestic violence whilst also understanding how to care for themselves.
Alongside our training we provide coping strategy booklets in multiple languages- these can be downloaded on our 'Resources' page. If you would like our booklet to be translated into a specific language or can help us translate a booklet into a language, please let us know.
We'd love to come train your organisation! Please email us to enquire on - firstname.lastname@example.org
We have so far trained - Help Refugee Volunteers (Calais), Melissa Network (Athens), Amurtel (Athens), Elna Maternity Centre(Athens), Khora(Athens), Safe Place International Athens(Athens), Steps(Athens), Zaatar NGO(Athens), Project Play (France), Refugee Women’s Centre (France), Lighthouse Relief (Greece), Bloody Good Period (UK), Red Cross (UK). Project Mama (UK) CAIM raised all the funds to cover the costs of these training sessions.
We have also facilitated taster workshops at the Migrant Connections Festival 2019 (London) and the Refugee Solidarity Summit 2020 (London).
We've had amazing feedback:
"The amount of information based on sexual orientation and gender identity."
"How to give an appropriate answer/response to the survivor. Protect the victim but also ourselves - vicarious trauma."
"Knowing all the different groups of victims and the details in each of them. Triggers, grooming and vicarious trauma is what I found most interesting/useful."
"The presenters who were knowledgeable and experienced."
